The Urban-Rural Brand Global Digitalization Forum

On June 15, 2023, The Urban-Rural Brand Global Digitalization Forum took place, with guidance from the Ministry of Digital Affair's Admission for Digital Industries and co-hosted by the Global Brands Management Association and the TeaLa. The event was co-organized by the Taiwan Regional Revitalization Foundation and KPMG Taiwan. The forum focused on the importance and challenges of urban-rural digitization, providing a platform for diverse professionals to exchange ideas and share best practices.

The discussions during the forum covered different topics and featured keynote speeches on digitization, risk management, sustainable brand acceleration, and more.

Participants shared their experiences and achievements related to their respective themes, offering recommendations and opportunities for collaboration. Director General Jang-Hwa Leu of the Ministry of Digital Affair's Admission for Digital Industries emphasized the potential of digital technology for urban-rural development. Vice General Manager Genkong Li of KPMG Taiwan discussed real-world cases of geopolitical risks and highlighted key aspects of risk management. Ms. Jennifer Yu from Unilever spoke about brand management and social initiatives.

The panel discussion was moderated by Chairman Chen Mei-ling of the Taiwan Regional Revitalization Foundation. Speakers included Chen Wei-Cheng, the founder of Hsinchu County, Hukou township's Dawoko company, as well as Rewood Studios, who shared insights on the green revolution in charcoal production. Wang Yi-Feng, the General Manager of Yunlin Kouhu Fisheries, discussed AI-enabled smart aquaculture and digitized farming models. Vice Chairman Henry Liang of Taiwan Lung Meng Advanced Composite Materials Co., LTD. mentioned the company's focus on sustainability through the use of Stone Paper, an eco-friendly material that reduces carbon emissions at a faster rate than recycling.

The participants collectively stressed the significance of urban-rural digitization and the implementation of ESG principles for contemporary social development and sustainability. They highlighted how urban-rural digitization serves as a crucial factor in driving economic growth, enhancing quality of life, and achieving sustainable development. They also acknowledged the challenges faced in the process, such as the digital divide, insufficient infrastructure, and the need for digital skills training.

During the interactive session, the participants unanimously recognized the challenges of disruptive innovation. They emphasized the importance of effectively communicating with the older generation and bridging the gap with traditional mindsets. They also emphasized the gradual implementation of new knowledge acquired externally, bringing it back to their hometowns and initiating reform in traditional industries.

The successful hosting of the Brand Urban-Rural Digital Global Forum provided a valuable platform and opportunity for the development of urban-rural digitization.
